The Door won’t Open
I want to preface by saying it wasn’t until I became a mother and lessons like the one I’m about to share with you, that I came to truly know that motherhood is indeed ministry. But also I believe that God will meet you in whatever season you’re in. Even if you’re not a parent, just stay with me.
Just to set the scene,
I’m in the kitchen cutting up a melon of some sort. My son who’s probably a year and a half at the time. He’s in his high chair just hanging out so I can keep an eye on him. As he was eating his snack, I guess the pantry door knob to his right was fascinating to him. I didn’t pay any mind toddlers will be toddlers. But after a while, he started to get upset at the fact that the door just wouldn’t open no matter his efforts. With each attempt, the door would hit the leg of the high chair and stop.
I tried talking him through his frustration as to why he was unable to open the door completely. But again he’s a toddler who just wants the door to do what he wants it to do…open!
I continued cutting the melon.
The Lord Spoke so Clearly…
Some of us are stressing over doors and opportunities that weren’t meant for us.
You’re trying to do it all in your strength, then getting frustrated because it isn’t turning out the way you would’ve liked it to.
But in reality, that door wasn’t meant for you to begin with.
That is why we must be careful of social media and the “hustle culture” because it will have you lost and chasing the wind, trying to do what everyone else is doing and you didn’t consult God once.
We’re stressing because of our actions, burdening ourselves with things that the Lord never assigned to us.
Then we run to God and we cry and complain, then eventually we get tired!
The word says to,
“Give your burdens to the Lord and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalms 55:22
Then He says it again in Matthew 11:30 “For my yoke is EASY to bear, and my burden I give you is LIGHT.”
Emphasis on the burdens that HE GIVES US!
