“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men …” Colossians 3:23
Okay, diving into this scripture, What does heartily mean? According to Webster’s dictionary, Heartily is defined as, heart·i·ly ˈhärt-ᵊl-ē: with sincerity, goodwill, or enthusiasm. set to work heartily.

Personally, it feels like getting to a place of Surrender | Servant | Trusting the Lord | A form of Praise | & Gratitude
Surrendering to his will
Trusting the Lord’s plan
So the big question is, How do I get to that place of surrender, and do everything as unto the Lord?
This post is all about How do I do everything unto the lord
Focus on Him
By keeping God at the forefront of our minds by meditating on scripture and spending time with Him daily, then and only then, we can wholeheartedly serve others out of fear and reverence for the Lord.
What if I told you God cares about your work?
Whether you’re a corporate cutey, a teacher, or a stay-at-home mom, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Maybe it feels like what you’re doing doesn’t matter. No matter how grand or mundane, It matters to God.
All the disciples aka workers in the bible all believed in something bigger than them. Though at times they had reservations, they had mustard seed faith to continue the work of the Lord, sort of like a trust fall. Surely they encountered difficult situations but they pushed forward with one person in mind and heart; the father.
In our walk, we must remember that our life is not our own. It isn’t about you and me but it’s bigger than all of us. But about the BODY of Christ as a whole.
Ticket for One
Instead of worrying about the opinions of others, let us turn our attention to what The Lord thinks. Ultimately we’re aiming to please and serve the one true God. So, forget about the extra noise and distractions.
How we manage our homes, our marriages, and even how we raise our children, we must look to the one we’re ultimately serving. Allow Him to teach you to do what is good and pleasing to Him. “Lord teach me to be the mother that these children need. Lord teach me to be more like the Proverbs 31 woman and steward well what you’ve blessed me with.”
Renewing my mind daily and casting down my flesh is how I work unto the Lord.

Greater is HE
The next way I do everything as unto the Lord is by seeing God as my employer. That’s right seeing yourself working for the Lord and not man. When we have that kind of mindset, it makes our work more meaningful and fulfilling. Everything we have comes from the Lord, It belongs to him, It’s the Lord’s to give and His to take away.
So, when we look at our job as working for the Lord and not our bosses, we’ll look to Him for our raise, for our increase, and not man.
Stay in the Word
Aside from prayer, staying in the word is a sure way to work unto the Lord in everything we do.
Staying in the word, and feeding on scripture will keep our eyes high and focused above. Looking to the lord will keep us from viewing things through our flesh. Because trust me there will be times that our flesh will rise…but God.
Stay in the word and let it plant roots in your heart.
Stewardship
The Bible tells us to “Commit your work to the Lord.”
Even as a stay-at-home mom, which includes the most mundane tasks, we sometimes do multiple times a day. Washing dishes that will get dirty again, folding laundry, cleaning up spill after spill, mess after mess, and potty training your carefree toddler.
With a simple shift in our mindset, we can complete those tasks with peace, and patience instead of frustration. Yeah, you may be doing yet another load of laundry but could you imagine for a second that the Lord is living in your home and you were washing His clothes and washing His plate? “I’m washing His clothes and doing His dishes” etc.
Bathing the kids, “I’m cleaning the Lord’s children.” They’re mine physically, yes! But we are just the earthly vessels that the Lord entrusted to care for and protect them. But they’re His children, they’re children of the Lord.
IT MATTERS! Your work is important because God has given it to us. It’s something He’s entrusted us with.
Prayer
Ask the Lord to create in you a new heart to love how He loves, and to see His people and children the way He sees them.
Renew my heart and release me from the heartache and pain from my past. To start fresh and Truly serve with a pure heart.
Prayer:
“Lord, I commit my works to you today, Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I will honor you.” and He will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3
