So you want to know how to Fold Laundry Fast so you can STOP dreading Laundry Day? Let me share a simple system that I’ve created to fold Laundry Fast. I’m talking folded AND put away in 7-10 minutes (I’ve timed myself).
The mundane task of laundry can become overwhelming EXTREMELY fast. And just when everything is folded, put away, and you’re left with an empty basket (insert praise hands). That reality is short-lived, and the cycle starts over again.
Are you drowning up to your ears in laundry? Are you fishing for a sock mate and pajama bottoms for your kids? or; Do you just hate folding clothes and are overwhelmed with laundry?
Sounds like you? I’ve been there before and You’re in the right place!
This post will show you how to improve your Homemaking Laundry skills so you’re not overwhelmed with Laundry.
This post is all about How to Fold Laundry FAST.
“She carefully watches everything in her householdand suffers nothing from laziness.”
Proverbs 31:27
Laundry…check! Let’s do This!
Before we get started with the 3 ways to fold laundry Fast, for this method to work, you’ll want to stay on top of your Laundry by creating a Laundry Schedule, so that you’re folding one load instead of 2 or 3 loads at a time, leaving you overwhelmed with laundry altogether.
How to Create a Laundry Schedule that works:
Questions to Ask yourself:
- What are my Weekly Washing needs?
- How often do I need to Wash them?
- What day of the week will I Wash said need?
Your washing needs could be:
- Linens
- Towels
- Bathroom Rugs
- Mom | Dad’s Clothes
- Kid’s Clothes and linens etc.
So, let’s choose Linens for this example. Let’s say that you have 2 sets of linens, so you only need to wash 1x per week. Now, let’s say you clean your bedroom and change your linens on Thursdays. You would then continue this process for all of your washing needs creating a Laundry Schedule for the entire week.
Now that we got that out the way,
Here is the system that I use to Fold Laundry EXTREMELY FAST
1. Find an Ideal folding Location
Your ideal folding location could be your laundry room or the couch. Whatever it is you’ll need a fairly large working space. Ideal folding locations should be near the place you’re going to put them away once they’re folded, making the odds of you putting them away and not leaving them folded in the basket at the bottom of the steps. Ask me how I know.
More than likely it will be your bed, guest bed, or your children’s beds.
The real never ending story.
2. Sorting is the Key
Here is where the SPEED comes in.
Next, you’re going to sort like-items into a smaller pile. So put all of the night clothes in one pile. Putting your gym clothes in another, and all the “hang” items, socks/underwear all into separate piles, etc.
Once you know all of your piles, this should take you 30-45 sec. Eventually, you won’t have to think much about it, you’ll sort those clothes like a card dealer.
Sorting into a smaller pile does something mentally for me. Instead of seeing this massive pile of clothes, you see tiny, more manageable piles.
By sorting, you’re quickly able to; match sets, mates, and like items. This makes for more efficiency when folding laundry fast and putting it away.
If you’re folding socks and undies, all of your mates are in one area, leaving you to make one or two quick trips to the sock/undie drawer.
3. Around the World
Okay, first, don’t ask me why I call it “Around the World“. The name came to mind, and it stuck. I guess working my way around the bed.
Now that everything is nicely sorted, choose a pile and go for it. One tiny pile at a time, fold or hang and put it away. Putting away each pile as you go will create more space to fold the larger items, such as towels.
There you have it, homemakers, how to create a laundry schedule, and how to fold laundry fast.
Once you’ve done this a few times, you’ll get faster. I’ve folded laundry this way for years, and it works!
